Before everyone mentions that the Iron Cross isn’t explicitly Nazi iconography (it isn’t), the issue is the Reichsadler (eagle) . Only the Nazis used a Reichsadler with straight-out wings.

One problem though, is that because Nazi iconography is banned in Germany, German neo-Nazi groups have started resorting to co-opting pre-Nazi symbols like the Iron Cross as substitutes. Even though such things are more representative of the ancient Prussian/German monarchy, and Hitler despised the idea of monarchy. But, logic doesn't really have any place in white supremacy.

What you see on Merkel’s Airbus is not q u i t e just an Iron Cross though. It is the Iron Cross amalgamated with the Balkenkreuz . I am not sure t h e old, straight-arm Balkenkreuz is forbidden per se i n G e r m a n y a n d A u s t r i a , but I s h o u l d imagine its use is * v e r y * frowned upon.

I lived in & around the very liberal city of Portland, which was very div erse and great, except for the expensive housing and the weather . But you go just a bit south of Tigard, or north and east into Camas, and it’s basically Alabama North.

I recall seeing a jacked- up K-10 pickup with a permanently-mounted flagpole in the middle of the bed, to which was affixed a rebel flag at all times. This was dude’s daily driver.

For anyone that cares, Nazi is driving a 2009 smart fortwo Brabus. The US spec Brabus cars weren’t true Brabus like they are in Europe , they were just a passion spec cars with an appearance package with Brabus branding on them.

This particular car has the Radio 10.

Fun fact: Because the US spec Brabus cars are not legit Brabus cars (where the VIN would reflect the Brabus package), anyone can turn any smart into a Brabus, sell it as a Brabus, and the buyer would have no easy way of proving you wrong.

The war eagle looking to its left and holding a wreath is not a symbol “confused with nazism,” it was   the official symbol of the Nazi party from 1933-1945. Nobody has used that symbol after 1945 in reference to a much older Prussian military decoration, and if they say they are, they are lying to you.

I think it is just lame “edgy” design, rather than anything too intellectual. It can attract a bad element, I suspect. I have seen it for the other German brands, too.

I’m glad we can at least agree that this is a bad person, but come on... context matters, and a red armband with a swastika on it has a very specific meaning entirely different from what the swastika means when it’s engraved on a Buddhist temple. You don’t get the benefit of the doubt if you wear a swastika armband just because the symbol also has a different meaning when used in a different way, or had a different meaning at a different time . The same goes for this eagle and wreath and iron cross , which, as used here, in 2018, in the specific form modified and adopted by the Nazi party, clearly d oes not mean “19th century Prussian military decoration.” Nor does substituting the iron cross for the swastika—which is commonly done by neo-Nazis so their tattoos or flags aren’t quite as obviously illegal in Germany or Austria— remotely change that or excuse it.

It’s a real temptation, and as the tension between people continues to ratchet up, someone like this is just as likely hoping to provoke a reaction from you, or someone else. And maybe they just deserve violence, for being such a hateful obtuse prick.

I don’t know what else to say. I can’t condone violating someone’s property, but I have a hard time wanting to sit back and hope this person will come around some day.

I saw in a comment section somewhere, someone lamenting “Is this what it feels like at the beginning of a civil war?” Most of the following comments were sympathetic, “I hope not” and “No, we’re not that far gone yet” , but the one that really stood out to me was a guy who said “The Left is gonna have a really hard time if so” . There are people among us who are openly ready for violence.

So which way do we go? I don’t know anymore.

80% of Puebla’s economy is based on Industry, the second largest VW plant is in Puebla, and so are their suppliers. Is VW Nazi? no. But Mexico has a real problem with regionalism, so if you can be proud of your city, or state for anything, you’re going to exaggerate it.

Like, half of my family is from Monterrey and anytime I go they ask “Hey, so is pollution and traffic still fucking horrible in Mexico City?” Or they’d show off the 100 million dollar tower where the entire state government works.

Oh, Audi is also in Puebla! Little did anyone notice but the initial press photos for the Q5 had Mexican dealer plates:
